How to market your business during covid 19

As the COVID-19 pandemic is raging and causing thousands of fatalities all over the globe, small businesses are among the many casualties that suffer. The quarantines and strict lockdowns enforced by the government have impacted not only our everyday lifestyle but the survival of small businesses as well, especially those in the travel and tourism industry.

A recent report published by WordStream revealed in detail how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted Google Ads Results for 21 industries. Among them, the ones that got hit the hardest are travel and tourism, bars and restaurants, live entertainment, conferences, sports and fitness, building and construction, and industrial and manufacturing.

On the other hand, some industries have thrived well, specifically those in the health and medical industry and business management.

Furthermore, WordStream reported mixed PPC performance for businesses in legal, jobs & education, retail, automotive, home furniture, home improvement, and real estate.

How Can Law Firms Survive Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic?

Among those businesses that got a mixed Google Ads performance results are those in the legal industry. According to WordStream, the legal industry is seeing some minor shifts in their ad performance.

“The legal industry is seeing some minor shifts on the SERP, with modest (under 5%) to search volumes and conversion rates. Luckily, this is offset by a similar decline in the cost per click—keeping search conversions and CPAs mostly steady.”

WordStream further reported that the conversions they saw arrived in the form of phone calls instead of website submissions. Their data revealed that almost 30% of these calls are unanswered.

Those calls were unanswered because, in the past few weeks, everyone is already working from home.

So, how can law firms solve this problem during the COVID-19 pandemic?

  1. Instead of phone calls, focus on promoting website contact submissions as the final step in your ad funnel.
  2. Assign a dedicated staff working from home to answer inquiries from all contact submissions.
  3. If you opt for phone calls, make sure a dedicated office staff is assigned to answer them.
  4. Update your working or office hours in your Google My Business page to reflect the changes in your current operations.

Aside from making sure that nothing gets wasted from your PPC, it is also essential to ensure your existing clients and prospects that, despite the current health crisis, you are still in operation and is always accepting new cases. You can do this by doing the following:

  1. Send updates on how your law firm is coping up with the COVID-19 pandemic through a newsletter.
  2. Regularly update your social media pages. Let your followers know what your law firm is doing daily amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
  3. Create a press release and share your COVID-19 story to the public.

And, because the government strictly reinforces social distancing, a virtual meeting with your existing clients and prospects is the best alternative to move on with their cases. You can hold this meeting via:

  • Skype
  • Zoom
  • Google Hangout

Also, because everyone is working from home, sharing of documents can be done virtually. Here are a few secure document sharing platforms that you can use:

  • Google Drive
  •  Dropbox
  • Microsoft One Drive
